Editor:

There is a saying that if you kill another person you are a criminal; if you kill 10 people you are a monster; but if you kill a thousand you are a national hero. What if you give orders for 100,000 to be killed, do you become a world demi-god or just another heartless dictator? Should you expect the survivors in that nation demolished and occupied and its capital and resources sold off in foreign markets to embrace you with warm affection and appreciation?

The invasion of Iraq is not a first step but the latest move by the U.S. to establish empire. The justification for colonization is always supported or purported to be the necessity for that country to be culturally and democratically reformed and made safe from terror while the occupiers sacrifice carries the white mans burden of enlightenment. But where does the conscience of the occupier nation enter into the equation where there is massive loss of life and physical destruction with doubtful positive results? How many of our politicians and citizens are willing to consider the inhumane consequences of empire building?

Have you thought about it?
